SEO – Basics

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. In short: In SEO everything is about how easy your content can be found in Search Engines. The internet is the most valuable resource we currently have and SEO is one of the most important arrows in your quiver. You can think about it like a map that shows others (your clients) how to find you. A lot of people still ignore the benefits SEO can bring you.

It is really not that hard to understand SEO, and on the following pages we will work to explain the mystics behind SEO. Step by step we will visit all important topics, and show you with the help of real world examples how easy you can achieve good results.

Why “Ultimate SEO”

What might be important to you, is that my knowledge, I will give to you, comes from 20 years of experience in SEO work. All my methods are tested and explored! So you will notice that you will read a lot of things that are different from the usual SEO Guide you get from others.

I will give you explanations so you can understand the benefits and why you should do what I say. For you to understand how SEO really works is my main interest here. Yes, the way you can do a lot of things will be similar, but the “why” that’s why you should stay with me 😉

After getting through all my pages you won’t be a SEO professional yet. It takes time and learning by doing to  get the right feeling when you should do what, because, believe it or not: there are different methods for different situations. That’s something you definitely will miss by a SEO guru with all their knowledge from someone else’s PDFs… 😉

So, let’s get going, shall we?

What everybody gets wrong about SEO

Why SEO in reality is not SEO

Every Seach Engine provider has one goal: showing the best results to their users. But how do you determine what is a good result? Is it the time the user stays on the website? Is a long time better or a short one? Did he instantly find what he was looing for and left the page, or did he bounce because everything was just nonsense on the target website?

As you can see, it is quite tricky to find the right markers to measure. So if people are telling you: “a staytime of 45+ seconds is the goal you want to achive” thats bullshit. Google tracks if a users comes back to the search results, and tries another page, or not. If not, its probable that the user found what he was looking for.

Even if the users comes back to the search results, but now tries something different that can be found on your page, thats counted as something good by google. So even if the user bounced from your website – it’s counted as a possitive event for your page SEOwise.

You can see, the individual situations aren’t that black and white as most people want you to think. Google has more that 600 events it tracks when it comes to calculate your SEO rank, so it’s a bit more than that obsessed PageSpeed everybody is making a fuss about. 😉

SEO Hirachy

SEO Markers that get tracked also count differently against each other. So a Marker that is tracked in category A overwrites the results of a marker from categroy D. Noone really knows what marker is in which importance category but Google has given some hints in the past.

So, what you will learn here, is how to beat all 600 markers, even without knowing exactly what all these markers are. Because we will optimise your Website for Search Engines, by NOT optimising it for search engines!
